Press Release For Thanks A Lot Recording

Washington, PA – May 17, 2024

Frankie Liszka (International Polka Association Hall of Famer) and Blue Magic release their first recording, Thanks A Lot. This powerhouse recording has a total of fourteen songs, three of which are Frankie Liszka originals. Packed with twelve polkas, one waltz and one oberek, Thanks A Lot has a mix of traditional Polish songs, as well as a mix of Blue Grass and Country flavored tunes. Award winning female vocalist, Stacey Morris, bandleader of the NuTones from Pennsylvania, is featured on one song as well.

Frankie Liszka and Blue Magic formed at the start of 2024, and feature their own material, as well as a mix of The Boys, The Brass Connection, and other great influences from the past such as Eddie Blazonczyk, Lil Wally, and Marion Lush. The band name, Blue Magic, comes from one of The Brass Connection’s albums of the same title. Frankie always thought that would be fitting for a band name. When Mike Matousek announced his retirement with The Boys, Frankie decided to take over the band and decided that the time was right to change the name of the band. He could not call it The Boys without Mike Matousek, and he could not call it The Brass Connection without the members of that band, so he moved forward with Blue Magic. There is no looking back!

The driving sound of Blue Magic features the talent of six musicians who each bring their own award-winning musical personality and unique musicianship. The band members include:

Frankie Liszka: Trumpet and Vocals

Mike Stapinski: Trumpet, Clarinet and Background Vocals

Matt Lewandowski: Bass and Background Vocals

David Morris: Concertina and Background Vocals

Nicola DiSebastiano: Accordion and Vocals

Jeff Yash: Drums

Guest musicians on Thanks A Lot include:

Randy Koslosky: Piano

Andy Leftwich: Fiddle

The title tune, “Thanks A Lot”, written by American songwriters, Eddie Miller and Don Sessions, starts off the recording with a catchy chorus that will be sure to have polka fans singing the simple lyrics over and over again. “Kora Jean” is a Frankie Liszka original that was inspired by his granddaughter of the same name. Accordionist extraordinaire, Nicola DiSebastiano, brings forth an Italian flavored arrangement with “Bella Ciao”. “Let’s Hurry to the Wedding” is an original song written by Mike Stapinski. This is a new Chicago-style polka with new Polish lyrics written by Tom Radecki. Rounding out the recording is “I Surely will be Singing”, which hints at the fact that Frankie still has more to come as Blue Magic continues to tour throughout the United States and Canada. Thanks A Lot was recorded at Max Studio in Lancaster, NY and produced by Frankie Liszka and Matt Lewandowski. The final product was mixed and mastered by Gary Rhamy from Peppermint Studio in Youngstown, Ohio.
